Jacksonville Beauty Institute Inc. with affiliated schools in Tampa Bay and Orlando, Florida are family owned and operated since 1997.  The late Dr. Glensford Craig  and Misty Craig (CEO) saw the unlimited potential the beauty industry had to offer and decided to make a difference within the community. The rapid growth of the industry propelled the Craig’s to educate individuals on how to become licensed professionals.  We have created a multifaceted program to achieve the high quality training that the beauty industry requires. We develop cosmetologists, skin care specialists, braiding specialist, skin and nail as well as nail specialists. With an education from us, you will be taught all the requirements to meet the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations. We also assist students in career placement and develop our students’ entrepreneurial skills. With flexible full-time and part-time schedules as well as accredited financial aid available, there is an opportunity waiting for everyone..

Our philosophy at the Beauty Institute is to “Be Your Own Boss”. Our cosmetology, nails care, and skin care programs are designed to be empowering and educational. We do more than prepare you for the state board; our students have the unique opportunity to work in a salon environment with services open to the public for students to get practical application. You will learn what it means to be a true beauty professional with 70% of all work performed on public clientele and 30% on demos or mannequins. We believe that education is the beginning of your journey so we ensure that each day of learning in our real world working environment prepares our students for what lies beyond graduation.

During your time at the Beauty Institute, you will enjoy additional hands on experience with various photo shoots, community service, and public service events. These outlets are designed to maximize your overall learning experience; your exposure to these outlets will prepare you for career placement. Our emphasis on teamwork mirrors some of the same situations a student may encounter once you complete the program and upon graduation you will enter the workforce as a prepared beauty professional.

Cosmetology Curriculum

1200 Total Hours

This course is designed to prepare students for the state licensing examination and obtain employment upon graduation. Students enrolled in this course will be instructed in theory and practical application. A cosmetologist license authorizes the holder to practice all phases of Cosmetology in a beauty salon or any specialities in a speciality salon. You must meet all admissions requirements to enter this program. Upon completion of this course, a cosmetologist will be trained in areas consisting but not limited to product knowledge, hair shaping theory, manicuring & pedicuring, hair arrangements theory, hair and scalp analysis, sanitation, and HIV prevention.

This course also includes business fundamentals, which equips each of our students to weave through the business savvy of the industry. Business fundamentals puts students in the mind frame to conquer the highly competitive trade giving each student the entrepreneurial insight to become their own boss.

Braiding Curriculum

16 Total Hours

This course gives instruction in general theory, practical application and technical application in the following subject areas: history of hair braiding; disinfection and sanitation; bacteriology; disorders and diseases of the hair and scalp; OSHA standards; hair analysis and scalp care; the study of HIV prevention; and technical procedures; personal hygiene and public health; professional ethics.

Nail Care

240 Total Hours

A diploma is issued to a student upon successful completion of all graduation requirements that include but are not limited to safety and infection control theory; HIV prevention; nail anatomy and disorder theory; manicure and pedicure theory; and nail tip theory. You must meet all enrollment requirements to enter this program. This course is taught through theory, from a licensed professional, hands on (practical), video, and guest speakers. Students enrolled in this course will be prepared for what the nail care industry has to offer.

Skin and Nail Care Specialist

600 Total Hours

A diploma is issued to a student upon successful completion of all graduation requirements that include but are not limited to safety and infection control theory; HIV prevention; nail anatomy and disorder theory; manicure and pedicure theory; and nail tip theory. Skin care techniques including hair removal, function of skin and proper procedures, waxing, basic therapeutic massage techniques and makeup artistry. Additionally the curriculum also includes training in aromatherapy, business and client development, and the rules and laws essential for the facial specialist. The program prepares students to become a licensed skin care specialist in the state of Florida

Upon completion of this course the nail and skin care specialist will have the ability to perform manicures, pedicures, hand/arm/foot massage, acrylic/gel/solar nails as well as perform facials, massage, waxes, and make-up application. You must meet all enrollment requirements to enter this program. This course is taught through theory, hands on (practical), video, and guest speakers.

Skin Care Specialist

300 Total Hours

The skin care specialist program provides training in scientific principles and fundamentals as it relates to the structure and function of skin and proper procedures. This includes procedural training on skin care techniques including hair removal, waxing, basic therapeutic massage techniques and makeup artistry. Additionally the curriculum also includes training in aromatherapy, business and client development, and the rules and laws essential for the facial specialist. The program prepares students to become a licensed skin care specialist in the state of Florida. A diploma is awarded to a student upon completion of all the required courses and hours.

Upon completion of this course, the student has the ability to perform facials, massage, waxes, and make-up while making a lucrative living in the comfort of a specialty or beauty salon. Estheticians make appointments for their clientèle. This course is designed to instruct a student to enter the industry as an esthetician. This course is taught through theory, hands on (practical), video, and guest speakers.

High School Completion

Applicants are admitted with proof of a high school diploma, or a General Equivalence Diploma (GED). A student can enroll at the age of 16 years old with parental consent.

Proof of Age/Immigration

Proof of age is required for admission. All applicants must provide an official government issued birth certificates. No photo copies please. All international applicants must provide proper documentation.
